Anatomy

 

Origin:

  • Middle half of anterior shaft of fibula

Insertion

  • Base of distal phalanx of great toe



Major Arteries:

  • Anterior tibial artery

 

Neural Innervation:

  • Deep peroneal nerve (L5, S1)

Physiology

  • Extends big toe & foot.

  • Inverts foot

  • Tightens subtalar joints
